About this Game

Play Go online free — no download, no account required. Go (Baduk/Weiqi) is the world's oldest strategy board game: place black and white stones to claim territory on the board. The rules fit on a napkin, but the depth is staggering — more possible game states than atoms in the universe.

Stone Online gives you four AI difficulty levels powered by neural networks, three board sizes (9×9, 13×13, 19×19), and instant multiplayer. Practice against AI at your own pace, then challenge real opponents when you're ready. Completely free, right in your browser.

Originating in China about 4,000 years ago, Go is known as Baduk in Korea and Igo in Japan. Since AlphaGo's historic victory in 2016, the game has entered a new golden age where human and AI strategies intertwine.

How to Play

Place stones on empty intersections of the board (9×9, 13×13, or 19×19). Black goes first. Surround opponent stones completely to capture them. No suicide moves, and the ko rule prevents repeating the same position.

The game ends when both players pass. Score by counting surrounded empty intersections (territory) plus captures. White gets a komi bonus to offset Black's advantage. Start with a 9×9 board against the AI — you'll get the hang of it in one game!
