How to Play
White moves first. Players take turns moving one piece. The King moves one square in any direction. The Queen moves any number of squares in any direction. Rooks move in straight lines. Bishops move diagonally. Knights move in an L-shape and can jump over pieces. Pawns advance forward but capture diagonally.
When the King is under attack, that's check — you must escape. No escape means checkmate and the game is over. There are special moves too: castling, en passant, and pawn promotion. Don't worry about memorizing everything — jump into a game and you'll pick it up naturally!
