How to Play
You play with 108 tiles after removing the 2 through 8 of Characters (Manzu 1 and 9 stay). North wind tiles act as bonus tiles, like flowers — reveal them immediately when drawn and draw a replacement. You'll sit in one of three wind seats: East, South, or West.
Gameplay follows standard Riichi Mahjong. Draw a tile from the wall, discard one you don't need, and use Chi, Pon, or Kan to claim other players' discards. Chi (sequential sets) is restricted with only 3 players.
Declare Riichi when you're in Tenpai (one tile away from completing). Your score depends on the Yaku (winning patterns) in your hand. High-scoring hands come up a lot more often in Sanma thanks to the smaller tile pool.
